Karma: The Band

This is about the band in general and whatever I can put together in words and pictures to tell its story. This page introduces the individual members of the band who have their own dedicated pages.

Who Are We?

I want to add some additional info to this page as an overview of who is currently active in the band and what we're up to. I probably should have started this earlier, but as this is a constantly evolving website and the band is progressing in its own small space in the greater universe, now is as good a time as any.

I'll start by looking back at the state of play when I joined the band back in 2010.

Back then, it was Pete doing the recruiting for the band and they needed a bass player. Along I came and the lineup then was Pete on rhythm guitar and vocals, Brad on lead guitar and vocals, Rob on drums and myself on Bass and vocals. We played a few gigs together after some rehearsing until the first change happened.

Rob decided to leave the band and we had to look for a new drummer. Craig found us and at the age of 16 joined the rest of us old fogeys and proved what an amazing drummer he already was. He stayed with us for a couple of years until it was time for him to head off to university in London and it was time to find another new drummer.

Luckily we found Mark before Craig left us and he had some time to learn our songs (many of which were original songs written by myself or Brad). Mark soon found his groove and the gigging continued almost without a break.

Late last year (October 2016) Mark decided to return to the UK to run a guest house in the north of Scotland. We got ready to search once more for a drummer, but almost before we could blink, Ivor found us! His experience allowed him to fit right in with our style of playing and with a few weeks of rehearsals we were ready to gig.

With just two gigs played into 2017, Brad left the band at the end of April 2017. Now for the biggest change we'd faced. I was already playing guitar on a few songs I'd written with Brad kindly taking over on the bass. I'd wanted to go full time on guitar for some time so with Brad's departure, it was time to fulfil that destiny. We also needed to find a bass guitarist to fill the void left by me. Geoff answered the call and we met for a short rehearsal on Saturday (29th April) with myself and Pete but without Ivor, who was otherwise engaged.

The story will continue starting next Saturday when we all get together and rehearse as a full band.
